MP Tiger Foundation Society celebrated the World Pangolin Day on 16 Feb 2019. The aim was to create awareness about Pangolin conservation issues among general public and make them understand the importance of this wonderful creation of nature.
The campaign started with MPTFS mobilizing a team of volunteers who were briefed on how to create awareness through interaction with public, They were given a kit to carry out the activities. The kit consisted of:
- Poster depicting information about Pangolins found across the globe along with their behavioural and physical traits.
- Scale Shaped paper sheets stamped with "Save our Pangolins" pledge to be signed.
- A sticker which was distributed to each signee tohelp spread the message further.
Volunteers visited various schools, colleges, areas of the city where they conversed with people from different sections of society on Pangolin conservation issues, got the pledge signed and distributed the stickers to further spread themessage of conservation.
On the morning of World Pangolin Day the huge Pangolin sculpture of 32 feet lenght by 7 feet high by 6 feet wide was revealed to general public. The beautiful structure drew attention of children and adults alike and a large number of people came to see the exhibition.
The efforts of MPTFS of celebrating World Pangolin Day by creating awareness about Pangolin through the gigantic sculpture also helped in setting the record for making the "Largest Pangolin Sculpture" which was certified by India Book of Records on 4" June 2019.
